Morris & Baker Ltd the founding company of the three, was first registered
with the Birmingham assay office in 1947 and started manufacturing largely dress
rings and eternity rings. As the volumes grew Mr Morris and Mr Flint decided to
open up their casting department to the trade and set it up as a separate
company called "Mor-Flin" castings, one of the first in the country. Morflin became incorporated in January 1953.
James Griffiths joined the business as company secretary having been working at Johnson Matthey (where he had occasion to drive the Rolls Royce pictured here), eventually becoming Managing Director after Mr Morris passed away and Mr Flint left. In the generations to follow came Colin Griffiths and then Paul Griffiths who is current managing director. Also along the way MB Rings and Co was created by Colin Griffiths, a company who produce high quality jewellery in Gold and Silver some of which can be seen in the gallery. The jewellery trade has seen enourmous change over the last few decades with mass produced imported jewellery coming and going, but now as it was long ago, it largely remains a small traditional industry with very high standards, exactly why Morflin sits so comfortably in the middle of it all.
